Anytime today -- and anytime during the next 29 days, guards could shuffle Saddam Hussein out of his jail cell, carry him to the gallows and hang him. The highest court of appeals in Iraq has ruled that the execution of the Butcher of Baghdad must be carried out within the next 30 days.
And hundreds of citizens in Iraq are applying for the job of actually hanging him.
Plans to execute Saddam in the local soccer stadium, before thousands of cheering spectators, have pretty much been done away with. However the court ruled that pictures and videos of the event will be permitted.
The audience will be a select few with only a hand full of dignitaries knowing the exact time and location of the hanging.
Greatly increased acts of violence are expected.
It is going to be interesting to see how the next month plays out and if Saddam will actually be strung up on the gallows.
For real justice to take place, he should be beheaded in public view.
